Pitaya is a tropical fruit. It blooms and bears fruit from July to December, and there is no particularly obvious production season. Pitaya is a cactus family plant of cactus order. The fruit is oblong or ovoid, red skin, fleshy, with ovoid and sharp scales at the top. The fruit is 10-12 cm long, thick pericarp and waxy. The pulp is white or red. There are nearly 10000 sesame seeds with fragrance, so it is called sesame fruit.
Pitaya fruit is Ganping in nature. The main nutrients include protein, dietary fiber, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin C, iron, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, potassium, etc. It is rich in a large amount of pulp fiber, rich in carotene, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B12 and C. the core (the seed of black sesame) is rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and iron, as well as various enzymes, albumin, fiber quality and high concentration of natural pigment anthocyanin (especially red meat). Flowers, stems and buds are more like their close relatives (Aloe vera).
Pitaya should not be eaten with milk. People with diabetes, women who are physically cold, pale, weak limbs, frequent diarrhea and other symptoms of cold constitution are not advised to eat more. Women should not eat pitaya during menstruation.
