Spring Airlines Co., Ltd. started its preparation after being approved by the then General Administration of civil aviation of China (now the Civil Aviation Administration of China of the Ministry of Communications) on May 26, 2004. It was founded by spring travel agency with a registered capital of 80 million yuan and successfully sailed in about a year. The first flight took off from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Yantai, Shandong Province on the morning of July 18, 2005. At the beginning of its establishment, there were only three leased Airbus A320 aircraft, operating domestic air passenger and cargo transportation business and tourism passenger charter transportation business. The average occupancy rate of Spring Airlines reached 95.4%, becoming the airline with the highest occupancy rate in domestic civil aviation.
